Most likely, you or someone in your family or friend group are sick with cold or flu symptoms, and often, it’s hard to know what to do to make yourself feel better. Whether your symptoms are due to a bacteria or a virus, there are many at-home and OTC remedies that will help you boost your immune system and feel better, faster.

Ways to stay healthy:

Even though you’ve likely heard all this before, here are some tips on how to stay healthy.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often.
  • Before eating, use hand sanitizer if you can’t wash your hands.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol, as it can weaken your immune system.
  • Get plenty of rest.
  • Take vitamin C, zinc lozenges, and Vitamin D.

 

Supplies to have on hand:
  • A digital thermometer
  • Electrolyte drinks, such as Gatorade or Pedialyte
  • A cool mist vaporizer to use at night
  • Ibuprofen and Tylenol

 

Seek medical care if you have:
  • A fever greater than 101 F
  • Persistent green mucous from your nose or chest >10 days
  • Cough lasting over 2 weeks
  • Ear or facial pain
  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, or wheezing
